EGCO Group officially opens the EGCO Cogeneration Power Plant (Extension).

Rayong, Electricity Generating Public Company Limited or EGCO Group held an official opening ceremony of the EGCO Cogeneration Power Plant (Extension). Use the latest technology that can reduce the amount of natural gas used per unit by 15%. Recently at EGCO Cogeneration Company Limited, Mapkha Subdistrict, Nikhom Phatthana District, Rayong Province, to thank all those involved in the development, construction, and support for the EGCO Cogeneration power plant (extension). Commercial operation has been successfully launched and electricity has been supplied to the system. The opening ceremony was attended by Mr. Kanchai Thepworachai, Deputy Governor of Rayong Province. came to preside over the ceremony EGCO Cogeneration Power Plant (Extension), in which EGCO holds 80% and J-Power Holdings (Thailand) Co., Ltd. holds 20%, was built to replace the existing power plant. It has a net production capacity of 74 megawatts. It is a cogeneration power plant that uses natural gas as fuel. It began commercial operatio n and supplied electricity to the system on January 28, 2024 in accordance with the power purchase agreement with the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand. Under the Small Power Producer Replacement Project (SPP Replacement), the amount is 28 megawatts for a period of 25 years and the remaining electricity and steam from the production process are sold to industrial customers in the Rayong Industrial Park and nearby areas. This power plant also uses the latest technology that can reduce the amount of natural gas used per unit by 15% from that used in the original power plant.
