EGCO Group ready to compete for RE Big Lot cake, round 2

Bangkok, 8 Oct. - Electricity Generating Public Company Limited (EGCO Group) moves forward to participate in the Renewable Energy Power Purchase Project (RE Big Lot) Round 2 with more than 10 solar farm projects. Ms. Jiraporn Sirikham, President of EGCO Group, revealed that EGCO Group is ready to bring more than 10 ground-mounted solar power projects that have passed the minimum technical readiness score (Pass/Fail Basis) from the RE Big Lot project, Round 1, but have not yet been selected to join the RE Big Lot project in Round 2, which the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) will open for eligible persons to join the project from October 8, 2024 onwards. 'EGCO Group is confident in the potential of the ground-mounted solar power project to bid for the second round of RE Big Lot because of its long-standing expertise in the power industry and project management, strong and experienced strategic partners, and familiarity with the project development area, which will help promote its high level of competitiv eness. If EGCO Group is successful and selected for the second round of RE Big Lot, it will help EGCO Group increase its renewable energy power generation capacity in its portfolio, which is in line with the goal of increasing the proportion of renewable energy power generation capacity to 30% by 2030,' said Dr. Jiraporn. The Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) announced the purchase of renewable energy power in the RE Big Lot project, round 2, with a total production capacity of 2,180 megawatts, divided into wind power projects not exceeding 600 megawatts and solar power projects not exceeding 1,580 megawatts. The right is given to 198 bidders who had submitted proposals in round 1, who passed the minimum technical score criteria but were not selected in round 1. In addition, the ERC still has a remaining renewable energy quota of approximately 1,488 megawatts that will be open for general purchase in round 3 of RE Big Lot. -511-Thai News Agency Source: Thai News Agency
