Employee arrested for stealing 10 million baht from grandma, admits to momentary lapse of reason

Grandma is heartbroken. An employee she has worked with for 10 years, trusted her to withdraw money every month, stole 10 million baht and fled. The police have now arrested him. He admitted that it was a momentary lapse of reason.

The Metropolitan Police Investigation Division and Pathumwan Police Station arrested Mr. Prida, 60 years old, an employee who stole 10 million baht from his employer, a money exchange business owner who is over 70 years old, on July 8th at a rented room in Charansanitwong 74, Bang Phlat District, along with 9,850,000 baht in cash and a motorcycle as evidence.

Mr. Preeda admitted that he did it on impulse and used some of the money to buy two motorcycles, totaling 70,000 baht, and used 80,000 baht for personal expenses. The rest was 9,850,000 baht in cash. Mr. Preeda switched his bag from a rainbow to a black handbag and kept it with him at all times. He did not hide the money anywhere. A background check did not find that Mr. Preeda had committed a crime, was addicted to gambling
, drugs, or partying, or spent it on women.

Later, the family took the victim, Grandma, to pick up the items at night at Pathumwan Police Station. They thanked the police with tears in their eyes with joy for tracking down the employee and returning almost all of the money. This made them feel relieved because in the past they could not eat or sleep and were stressed about losing money. The incident was caused by trusting Mr. Preeda because they had worked together for more than 10 years, like family. This made them trust him to take them to withdraw money regularly by letting him ride his motorcycle. However, in the past, they had not withdrawn as much money as this time, which may have tempted the employee, so he stole the money and rode his motorcycle away.

Initially, the police took Mr. Prida to the Bangkok South Criminal Court to request a detention order on the charge of theft, and objected to bail because the amount of money stolen was of high value.
