Vinh long: Wax coconut is a specialty fruit of Tra Vinh province, known for its high economic value and strong contribution to the province’s brand. However, wax coconuts cannot naturally germinate due to their genetic characteristics. To solve this problem, Tra Vinh university uses embryo-cultured wax coconut seedlings, helping farmers earn billions from the specialty coconut variety. This is a vivid proof of the spirit of Resolution 57-NQ/TW of the Central Committee, promoting the application of science and technology into practice, helping farmers in the Mekong Delta improve production efficiency.
According to Vietnam News Agency, the introduction of embryo-cultured wax coconut seedlings has significantly transformed the agricultural landscape of Tra Vinh province. The innovative technique developed by Tra Vinh University addresses the natural germination challenges faced by wax coconut, thus ensuring a sustainable and profitable farming model for local farmers. This scientific advancement aligns with the
goals of Resolution 57-NQ/TW, which emphasizes the integration of science and technology in agriculture to boost productivity and economic gains in the region.
The successful implementation of this technique has led to substantial economic benefits for farmers in the Mekong Delta. By adopting these embryo-cultured seedlings, farmers are now able to cultivate wax coconuts at a large scale, contributing to the economic prosperity of the province. This not only enhances the viability of wax coconut as a commercial crop but also reinforces the province’s position in the agricultural market.
