At approximately 01:40 this morning, the radio communication center of Karon Police Station, Mueang District, Phuket Province, received a report of a fire at Karon Plaza, which is home to shops, seafood restaurants, and bars on the beach road. They coordinated with 2 fire engines and 4 water trucks from the Disaster Prevention and Mitigation Office of Karon Municipality and nearby agencies to help put out the fire. When they arrived at the scene, they found a raging fire burning more than 20 small shops. Officers had to quickly spray water and it took about 1 hour to bring the fire under control. Initial reports indicated no deaths or injuries. An inspection found that almost all of the shop stalls in the plaza were damaged. Of
