Floods and Landslides Cause Casualties and Damage in Northern Mountainous Region

Hanoi: Torrential rains, floods, and landslides have resulted in four fatalities, four individuals missing, and nine injuries in Lai Chau province. Property damage has also been reported across several mountainous northern areas.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the Vietnam Disaster and Dyke Management Authority under the Ministry of Agriculture and Environment reported that, in addition to the human toll in Lai Chau, 21 houses have collapsed, 144 were damaged, and 64 homes have been affected by flooding and landslides. The affected areas include the provinces of Lai Chau, Lao Cai, Dien Bien, and Son La. These incidents were recorded as of 8 a.m. on July 19.
