Hai phong: The port city of Hai Phong must become a leading growth pole in northern Vietnam, serving as a hub for hi-tech industry, world-class logistics, and modern maritime economy, while also acting as a key gateway linking domestic and foreign markets, said Party General Secretary To Lam. During a working session with the municipal Party Committee on March 16, General Secretary Lam urged the northern city to sustain high, long-term growth closely tied to modernisation, green transition, digitalisation, and better life quality.

According to Vietnam News Agency, General Secretary Lam emphasized the strategic importance of Hai Phong in Vietnam's economic landscape, advocating for measures that would elevate its status in global trade and logistics. He highlighted the need for the city to integrate more deeply into international supply chains and to foster an environment conducive to innovation and sustainable practices.

The meeting also underscored the city's potential in leveraging its existing infrastructure and strategic location for economic transformation. The Party chief called on local authorities to implement policies that would attract investments in technology and green industries, ensuring that Hai Phong not only grows economically but does so in an environmentally responsible manner.

The municipal Party Committee was tasked with formulating strategies that align with the national goals of digitalisation and modernisation, aiming to improve the quality of life for residents while maintaining a competitive edge in the global market. General Secretary Lam's directives are seen as part of a broader effort to position Vietnam as a key player in the global economy, with Hai Phong playing a pivotal role in this vision.
