Hai Phong Strengthens Vessel Monitoring to Step Up Fight Against IUU Fishing

Hai phong: Hai Phong city is intensifying oversight of fishing vessel movements and tightening enforcement measures as part of efforts to combat illegal, unreported and unregulated (IUU) fishing and improve fisheries management. The city is also accelerating digital transformation in fisheries management. More than 1,100 vessel trips were updated through the monitoring system during the period, while electronic logbooks are being gradually introduced to enhance transparency and improve seafood traceability, supporting sustainable fisheries development.

According to Vietnam News Agency, these initiatives are part of Hai Phong's broader strategy to ensure sustainable fisheries practices and compliance with international regulations. By updating vessel trips and incorporating electronic logbooks, the city aims to not only improve traceability but also bolster its fight against IUU fishing, which poses significant threats to marine ecosystems and legal fishing industries worldwide.
