Hanoi: Hanoi’s tourism sector recorded strong performance during the five-day public holiday marking the National Reunification anniversary (April 30) and International Workers’ Day (May 1), according to the municipal Department of Tourism. Tourism activities were vibrant across the capital from April 30 to May 4, reaffirming Hanoi’s reputation as a safe, friendly, and attractive destination. During the period, Hanoi welcomed an estimated 875,200 visitors, up 18.64% from the same period last year. Of these, 136,190 were international arrivals, a year-on-year rise of 55.35%. Total tourism revenue is estimated at 3.15 trillion VND (121.1 million USD), up 25.21%. Demand for travel and accommodation surged, with 4- to 5-star hotels nearing full occupancy. Retail and dining services also recorded significant growth in customer numbers and revenue.
According to Vietnam News Agency, the increase in visitors and revenue highlights the growing appeal of Hanoi as a travel destination during this significant holiday pe
riod. The surge in international arrivals suggests a recovering interest from foreign tourists, contributing to the overall economic benefits experienced by the city. The hospitality sector, particularly high-end hotels, benefited from the increased demand, reflecting the positive trend in tourism recovery post-pandemic. The growth in retail and dining services also indicates a broader economic impact, as local businesses enjoyed increased patronage and sales.
