Hanoi: A day-long downpour has left many streets in Hanoi heavily flooded, forcing residents to wade through ‘roads turned into rivers’ to pick up their children, shop for dinner, and commute during rush hour. Late at night when the rain stopped and the flood water slowly receded, Hanoians begin to go home on congested streets.
According to Vietnam News Agency, the extensive flooding resulted from continuous rainfall throughout the day, causing significant disruption in the daily routines of the city’s inhabitants. Many residents were seen navigating through waterlogged roads, trying to manage essential tasks despite the challenging conditions.
The situation led to severe traffic congestion, particularly during peak commuting hours, as public transportation and personal vehicles struggled to maneuver through the flooded areas. The floodwaters, although receding, left a trail of debris and mud, adding to the obstacles faced by the commuters.
Local authorities have been working to clear the affected areas and ensure the safety of residents. Efforts are underway to restore normalcy, with cleanup operations being prioritized in the worst-hit locations. Despite the inconveniences, residents have shown resilience as they cope with the aftermath of the heavy rains.
