HCM City: Doctors at City International Hospital in Ho Chi Minh City have successfully treated a 52-year-old Cambodian man suffering from Whitmore’s disease, which is caused by the bacterium Burkholderia pseudomallei, often referred to as the ‘flesh-eating’ bacteria. The patient underwent intensive treatment for over three weeks.
According to Vietnam News Agency, the patient’s condition showed significant improvement as his pneumonia subsided, his breathing stabilized, and the medical team was able to reduce his sedation. Consequently, the breathing tube was removed, marking a significant step in his recovery process. The patient is now conscious and has regained the ability to eat orally as he continues to recover.
