HCM City Presents Health Insurance Cards to Impoverished People Ahead of Tet

Ho Chi Minh City: A conference on promoting social and health insurance policies and distributing health insurance cards to impoverished residents in Ho Chi Minh City was held on January 16 by the Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and the Social Insurance Agency of the city. As many as 2,361 health insurance cards, each valid for 12 months and valued at over 1 billion VND (39,400 USD) in total, were delivered to individuals from low-income and near-poor households.

According to Vietnam News Agency, this initiative is part of a broader effort to ensure that vulnerable segments of the population have access to essential health services, especially with the upcoming Tet holiday. The distribution of health insurance cards is aimed at alleviating some of the financial burdens faced by those living in poverty or near-poverty conditions.

The conference highlighted the collaboration between local government bodies and social organizations in addressing the healthcare needs of impoverished communities. The Vietnam Fatherland Front Committee and the Social Insurance Agency emphasized the importance of these insurance cards as a means to provide necessary medical support to those who might otherwise be unable to afford it.

Organizers of the event expressed hope that the provision of these health insurance cards would not only improve access to healthcare services but also contribute to the overall well-being of the recipients. The initiative reflects a commitment to enhancing the quality of life for disadvantaged individuals and families in Ho Chi Minh City.
