Hundreds of Children Benefit from Free Surgical Programme in Hue

Hue: A volunteer surgical programme is currently underway at Hue Central Hospital, providing essential free screenings and surgeries for children suffering from cleft lip and palate across Vietnam. The programme, which spans from March 10 to March 20, is a collaborative effort involving the hospital’s Maxillofacial Centre and Interplast, a non-profit medical organisation based in Germany.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the initiative has brought together a team of 13 specialists from Germany, Italy, Austria, and Spain. These experts are tasked with conducting screenings for hundreds of children and performing more than 100 surgeries to address cleft lip, palate, and other congenital facial defects.

This programme aims to offer critical medical assistance to children who might otherwise be unable to access such surgeries due to financial constraints. The collaboration highlights the commitment of international medical professionals to improve the quality of life for affected children in Vietnam.
