The Russian invasion of Ukraine has caused a major refugee problem. The numbers are expected to rise rapidly and the experienced Jesuit Refugee Service has expressed deep concern for the situation and for those who have been forced to flee. The UN Refugee Agency reported that by the end of last week more than 1 million refugees — half of them children — had already fled Ukraine into neighboring countries and millions more could be at risk of displacement.
