Hanoi: The People's Committee of Dong Thap province recently held a meeting with the Ambassador of Kazakhstan to Vietnam to discuss a proposed investment project. The proposal involves the construction of a plant designed to process 1 million tonnes of rice husks from the Mekong Delta region.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the proposed plant will have the capability to convert rice husks into electricity and anti-corrosion ferrosilicon compounds. The initiative, spearheaded by a Kazakh investor, aims to capitalize on the abundant rice husk supply in the region to produce valuable by-products.

The meeting underscored the interest of both parties in facilitating this investment, which could potentially boost the local economy and provide a sustainable solution for rice husk management. The discussions highlighted the potential benefits of the project, including energy production and the creation of industrial compounds.
