Khanh hoa: Police in the south-central province of Khanh Hoa on July 25 began collecting DNA samples from relatives of more than 200 fallen martyrs whose remains have yet to be identified, as part of a nationwide effort to reunite martyrs with their families. The DNA collection drive, organised by the provincial Department of Public Security in coordination with local authorities, took place in Dong Hai ward and covered relatives from Dong Hai, Phan Rang, Do Vinh, My Son, and Bao An wards and communes.

According to Vietnam News Agency, this initiative aims to facilitate the identification process of the remains of martyrs, ensuring that families can finally achieve closure. The authorities have focused on gathering DNA samples from relatives to match them with unidentified remains, thereby providing an opportunity for families to receive the remains of their loved ones.

The local authorities have been actively involved in this process, coordinating efforts to ensure that all potential relatives are contacted and encouraged to participate in the DNA collection. This effort is part of a broader national initiative to address the issue of unidentified remains from past conflicts, reflecting a commitment to honoring the sacrifices made by these martyrs.

The project is expected to continue until all possible matches have been exhausted, with local authorities urging all eligible relatives to participate to expedite the process.
