Ministry of Energy – Energy Regulatory Commission implements projects and activities to honor His Majesty the King.

Bangkok, The Ministry of Energy, the Energy Regulatory Commission, and state enterprises under the supervision of the Ministry of Energy have presented a project to improve the quality of life for Thai people to celebrate the auspicious occasion of His Majesty the King's 6th cycle birthday anniversary on July 28, 2024. Mr. Pirapan Salirathavibhaga, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Energy, along with the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC), senior executives from government agencies, the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand (EGAT) and PTT Public Company Limited (PTT), a state enterprise under the Ministry of Energy, jointly paid homage to His Majesty the King and held a press conference on 'Activities to Honor His Majesty the King on the Auspicious Occasion of His Majesty the King's 6th Cycle Birthday Anniversary on July 28, 2024.' Mr. Pirapan said that on the auspicious occasion of His Majesty the King's 72nd Birthday Anniversary on July 28, 2024, the Ministry of Energy, state enterprises under its jurisdiction, and the Energy Regulatory Commission (ERC) would like to commemorate His Majesty the King's benevolence by implementing projects and activities to continue His Majesty's royal intention to "create benefits for the people forever" by improving the quality of life of the people in various aspects, including promoting public health and disseminating knowledge about His Majesty's royal duties. Mr. Samojai Suksumek, Chairman of the Energy Regulatory Commission, said that the ERC and the ERC Office have supported the budget from the Electricity Development Fund under Section 97(4) to implement the project to promote electricity generation from solar energy in 73 locations to install solar power generation systems for 73 state hospitals with a budget of 457,192,500 baht, with a total installed capacity of 15,597 kilowatts peak, aiming to reduce utility costs for electricity and expecting to save electricity costs for state hospitals by up to 86,213,686 baht per year. In addition, the hospitals can use the saved costs to support the mission of taking care of people who come to receive medical and public health services from the hospitals better. The implementation of this project can reduce carbon dioxide emissions by a total of 11,872 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent per year. Mr. Thepparat Theppitak, Governor of the Electricity Generating Authority of Thailand, said that the Ministry of Energy, together with EGAT, has organized 10 projects and activities to honor His Majesty the King on the occasion of His Majesty's 6th Cycle Birthday Anniversary on July 28, 2024, under the name "10 Projects Continuing the King's Royal Wishes", consisting of: 1) Project to support the operation of 21 Somdej Phra Yupparat Hospitals nationwide by cleaning air conditioners, installing innovative air circulation and treatment systems (City Tree) to create good air for patients, and supporting artificial lenses for patients and the elderly. 2) Project to install solar cell power system number 5 in Royal Project areas, including the Royal Project Development Center, Letor, Tak Province, with a capacity of 16 kilowatts, and the Royal Project Agricultural Research and Development Center, Chanakathibet Damri, Chiang Mai Province, with a capacity of 72 kilowatts. 3) Project to install solar cell power system number 5 at Wat Mahathat Wachiramongkol (Wat Bang Thong), Krabi Province, with a capacity of 72 kilowatts. 4) Project to provide eyeglasses service mobile units in 43 target areas, including distributing eyeglasses to vulnerable groups. Total of 72,000 glasses 5) Khok Nong Na Project, extending 72 plots by supporting innovation in solar energy water pumping system 6) Smart Green Learning Room establishment project and improving energy efficiency at Wachiralongkorn Wararam Secondary School, Nakhon Ratchasima Province 7) Project to support 72,000 sets of student uniforms No. 5 in the group of schools under the royal patronage of His Royal Highness Crown Prince Maha Vajiralongkorn, the group of Rajaprajanugroh schools nat ionwide, and the group of schools in the Education Fund project 8) Project to support the operations of the Kanchanabharami Foundation, supporting a gynecological cancer screening vehicle with medical equipment, 1 unit 9) Chalermprakiat Health Park project in an area of ??72 rai at Wachiralongkorn Dam, Kanchanaburi Province, by adjusting the area to create a bicycle racing track Area for health promotion activities 10) Project for organizing activities in honor of His Majesty the King at Vajiralongkorn Dam, Kanchanaburi Province, between 25 - 28 July 2024, is expected to reduce carbon dioxide emissions by approximately 2,800 tons per year, reduce electricity consumption by approximately 5.3 units per year, and reduce electricity costs by approximately 26.6 million baht per year. Mr. Kongkrapan Intarajang, Chief Executive Officer and President of PTT Public Company Limited, said that PTT Public Company Limited has implemented special projects and activities to offer as royal merit on the occasion of the au spicious ceremony of His Majesty the King's 6th cycle birthday anniversary on July 28, 2024, including: 1) Kamphaeng Phet 6 area development project, parallel to the Prem Prachakon Canal development project in which PTT has allocated 10 rai of land next to Prem Prachakon Canal to create green spaces and exhibition buildings, including ports and community public areas, to continue and expand on the royal policy of developing rivers, canals and various water sources. 2) Produce and distribute two short films in honor of His Majesty, namely, Drawings from the Future and Cafe, to publicize His Majesty's royal duties and the results of the implementation of projects in the areas of water resource development, natural resources, the environment, and people's quality of life, in accordance with His Majesty's policies, totaling 10 projects nationwide, to be distributed from today until 3 August 2024 on television and online media. 3) Light and sound show activity in honor of His Majesty 'Lamnam Nathi Warisomboch' at Santichaiprakan Park (Phra Sumen Fort) for the public to watch a short film in honor of His Majesty and join activities such as light and sound show and 3D Mapping at Phra Sumen Fort, games from Bang Lamphu community, music in the park, workshop activities, community shops, and exhibitions of projects under the royal policy, royal initiatives and results of water resource development projects, including a special boat trip from Phra Sumen Fort to Mahakan Fort, held from 26-28 July 2024, 4:00 p.m. onwards at Santichaiprakan Park, Phra Athit Road. 4) Activities to develop the quality of life of the community sustainably by developing coffee planting and production using a natural resource conservation system, Royal Project Le Tor, Mae Ramat District, Tak Province, in which PTT, OR, and the Royal Project jointly continue the royal intention of His Majesty the King to continue, preserve, and develop the work of the Royal Project Foundation to develop the quality of life of the Thai hill tribe people, reduce o pium planting, and restore headwater forests. 5) Reforestation activities covering 72,000 rai in honor of His Majesty the King, covering forest areas nationwide to restore ecosystems, watersheds, promote biodiversity, increase natural carbon dioxide absorption sources, and reduce the impact of climate change. It is expected that the project will absorb 68,400 tons of carbon dioxide equivalent per year. The projects and special activities that PTT Group has participated in this time are to publicize His Majesty the King's royal duties and projects in accordance with His Majesty the King's royal policies and to commemorate His Majesty's royal grace in performing his royal duties for the benefit of the people and to improve the quality of life of Thai people. Ms. Nantika Thangsuphanich, Deputy Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Energy, said that the Ministry of Energy is pleased and ready to support projects to honor His Majesty the King through various activities. In addition, the Department of Alternativ e Energy Development and Efficiency (DEDE) has a project to compete for energy and renewable energy innovations for the public sector to develop energy innovation designers for the public sector, develop practical energy innovations, and honor people with creative energy innovations that help and benefit society. In addition, the area will provide academic and commercial assistance for sustainable development and expansion between July and December 2024.
