Ministry of Labor to propose additional measure to pay 3,000 baht for those who have children

The Minister of Labor has proposed an incentive measure for Thai workers to “have more children” by increasing child support payments from 1,000 to 3,000 baht per month for 7 years, by sending children to be raised in rural areas to solve the problem of future labor shortages.

Mr. Phiphat Ratchakitprakarn, Minister of Labor, talked about the idea of ??providing child welfare money that the Social Security Fund’s child welfare previously provided 800 baht per month, but in 2025 it will be increased to 1,000 baht per month, which has already been approved by the Social Security Fund Board. However, he personally wants to increase the incentive for workers under Section 33 to have more children.

After the labor, there may be concerns about the burden of raising children, especially in urban society where the cost is quite high. Therefore, there is an idea to ask the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Labor to bring it up for discussion with the Social Security Board. Laborers under Section 33, when they ha
ve more children and go to raise them in the countryside or in the provinces, will receive child support from 1,000 baht per month to 3,000 baht per month for a period of 7 years.

In this budget, Social Security will have to pay another sum, but it will create permanence for the Thai workforce by increasing the population. After all, Thailand has a different number of new births and deaths. There are more deaths than new births. I think Social Security will have to create an incentive for insured persons. If they have one more child, the cost of raising them will increase from 1,000 baht per month to 3,000 baht per month. As for the number of children to be determined, that cannot be estimated yet. It depends on the insured persons. If anyone is in Section 33, they will get 1, 2, 3 children, depending.

However, this matter is still just an idea, which will be sold through the media initially and will be brought to the Social Security Board later. Personally, I have no authority or right to enter the Social
Security Board meeting. It is the duty of the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Labor as the Chairman of the Board. Therefore, the only thing I can do is to submit the policy to the Permanent Secretary to discuss whether it is possible or not.
