Multiple accidents, 4 cars collided, 3 people died

An 18-wheel trailer truck swerved past a ten-wheel truck and overturned in the middle of the road. A Fortuner following behind was unable to brake in time and crashed into it again. A pickup truck crashed into another vehicle, killing three people.

Multiple vehicle accidents resulted in multiple fatalities on Kanchanaphisek Road No. 9, Bang Pa-in – Bang Na, Khlong Luang District, Pathum Thani Province. At the scene, a white Hino 18-wheel trailer truck was found to have crashed into a 10-wheel flour truck, overturning and blocking the road. A black Toyota Fortuner sedan and a white Toyota pickup truck were also found, both of which had crashed into the flour truck. The Fortuner driver sustained minor injuries to his right elbow. He was identified as Mr. Naphat, 51 years old. Rescue workers took him to Bangpakok 2 Rangsit Hospital.

Inside the white pickup truck, there were 3 dead bodies. Rescue workers had to use cutting and prying equipment to remove the bodies. They were identified as Mr. Prawit, 29 years
old, the driver, Mr. Songkran, 42 years old, sitting next to the driver, and Mr. Witawat, 33 years old. All of them were refrigeration technicians for a company.

Mr. Naphat, the Fortuner driver, said that he was traveling back from Saraburi Province to his home in Bangkok. When he arrived at the scene of the accident, it was raining and the trucks in front of him crashed into each other until they were blocking the middle of the road. He was driving behind and stepped on the brakes, but the brakes failed, so he crashed into the ten-wheel truck that was lying on its side across the road. Before he could get out of the car, the deceased’s pickup truck crashed into the truck he had hit with great force.

Mr. Phasathanat, 52 years old, a trailer driver, said that he was driving an empty container truck from Mae Sot District to Lat Krabang. When he arrived at the scene of the accident, he was driving in the leftmost lane, where there was a parked car on the shoulder and the other party’s ten-wheel truck was drivi
ng in the right lane. He swerved out of the way and the cars collided until they lost control before the other party’s ten-wheel truck flipped over. Then two more cars crashed into it.

Police officers inspected the scene of the accident, recorded images as evidence, and interviewed witnesses. They coordinated with a crane and a tow truck to remove the vehicle from the road. They also had volunteers from the Ruamkatanyu Foundation take the body of the deceased to Thammasat University Hospital to wait for relatives to receive the body for religious rites. They will also find the perpetrators and prosecute them according to the law.
