Hanoi: Legislators looked into the investment policy for the North-South high-speed railway project on November 20 afternoon, part of the ongoing second phase of the 15th National Assembly’s eighth session. According to Vietnam News Agency, the Government’s proposal outlines that the high-speed railway is set to meet transportation demands, contribute to sustainably restructuring the transportation market share along the North-South corridor, create a catalyst for socio-economic development, and ensure national defence and security.
The project is expected to significantly enhance the transportation infrastructure, providing an efficient and rapid transit option between major cities. It aims to alleviate current transportation pressures and foster a more balanced distribution of transport modes across the country.
In addition to transportation benefits, the project is anticipated to spur economic growth by connecting key economic zones. The development of the railway is seen as a strategic move to boost reg
ional connectivity and economic integration, while also enhancing the nation’s defence readiness by improving logistical capabilities.
As the discussion progresses, legislators are examining the potential impacts, costs, and benefits of the proposed investment policy to ensure that it aligns with national development goals and fiscal realities.
