OIC intensively trains ‘casualty assessors’ to adhere to standards

Office of the Insurance Commission (OIC) intensively trains "casualty assessors" to adhere to standards to protect insured persons. Mr. Chuchat Pramulpol, Secretary-General of the Office of Insurance Commission (OIC), presided over the opening of the '2024 Property Assessment Seminar' to create knowledge and understanding about the personal data protection law for property assessors, the provision of electronic property assessment licensing services (e-licensing), and understanding of compliance with laws and regulations related to the operations of property assessors, as well as the current overview, trends, and statistics of property assessments. The Office of the Insurance Commission (OIC) recognizes the importance of disaster assessment because the insurance industry is currently facing changing situations and challenges from external factors that significantly affect the insurance industry, such as fires, floods, and storms, which cause losses and damages to the lives and properties of the insured. Th erefore, disaster assessment is an important process for the insurance industry that helps assess the value of the damages that occur. Determining standard and appropriate compensation for the insured, which not only affects the operation of the insurance company, but also affects the satisfaction of the insured and the sustainability of the business in the long term. In addition, the loss assessor is considered an important cog in driving the insurance system. Because the loss assessor is considered an insurance intermediary that plays an important role in the compensation process, it is responsible for inspecting, analyzing the causes and assessing the damage of the loss in order for the compensation to be fair to all sectors. It also plays an important role in supporting the prevention of insurance fraud, which helps build public confidence in the insurance system. Therefore, the 2024 Property Assessment Seminar is to promote property assessors in the market to have operational standards and the potentia l to respond to changes, as well as to support the development of knowledge of property inspectors and assessors under their supervision to respond to the expansion of the property insurance market and be ready to face future challenges. The seminar was honored by qualified speakers with expertise and expertise to provide knowledge, with more than 200 property assessors attending the seminar. The OIC Secretary-General added that the OIC, as the agency that regulates the insurance business and protects the public in the insurance sector, places importance on driving and developing operations in various areas according to the 4th Insurance Development Plan (2021-2025) continuously to create readiness for new challenges in the future. Earlier this year, the OIC launched the e-Licensing electronic licensing service system, which is a platform development to link the OIC's database systems related to insurance intermediaries together and link with other government databases to facilitate the application/renew of licenses. In addition, the public can access information on insurance intermediaries completely, accurately, and conveniently. In addition, the OIC has implemented the OIC Gateway project, a platform providing comprehensive insurance information services, which is the result of the integration of cooperation between the OIC and the insurance business sector.
