Jakarta: General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam (CPV) Central Committee, To Lam, attended and delivered a keynote policy speech at a ceremony to celebrate the 30th anniversary of Vietnam’s accession to the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) in Jakarta, Indonesia, on the morning of March 10. This event was part of his official visit to the ASEAN Secretariat.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the ceremony highlighted Vietnam’s contributions to ASEAN over the past three decades since its accession. To Lam’s speech focused on Vietnam’s commitment to regional cooperation and the strengthening of political, economic, and cultural ties within the ASEAN community.

The event was attended by representatives from ASEAN member states and officials from the ASEAN Secretariat. Discussions at the ceremony covered Vietnam’s role in fostering unity and collaboration among Southeast Asian nations, as well as its efforts in promoting peace and stability in the region.

Vietnam joined ASEAN on July 28, 1995, marking a significant step in its foreign policy and international integration. Over the years, Vietnam has participated actively in ASEAN-led initiatives and has been a key player in various regional dialogues and partnerships.
