Manila: General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President of Vietnam To Lam, along with his spouse Ngo Phuong Ly and a high-ranking Vietnamese delegation, convened a meeting with Vietnamese Embassy staff and the Vietnamese community in the Philippines in Manila on May 31 afternoon.
According to Vietnam News Agency, the gathering was an opportunity for the Vietnamese leaders to engage with their compatriots abroad, strengthening the bonds between the Vietnamese government and its overseas community. The meeting aimed to address the concerns of Vietnamese nationals residing in the Philippines and to reinforce the cultural and economic ties between the two countries.
During the session, To Lam expressed appreciation for the contributions of the Vietnamese community in the Philippines to the development of both nations. He highlighted the importance of maintaining cultural heritage while integrating into the local society. The President also took the opportunity to update the community on Vietnam's socio-economic progress and policies that might impact overseas Vietnamese.
