Hanoi: Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh chaired a conference in Hanoi on March 12 to hand over his decision appointing member of the Party Central Committee and Standing Vice President of the Vietnam Academy of Science and Technology (VAST) Prof. Dr. Tran Hong Thai as its President. PM Chinh praised Thai as a seasoned management official with more than two decades of broad experience spanning scientific research, state management, and local governance.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the appointment of Prof. Dr. Tran Hong Thai is seen as a strategic move to bolster the leadership at VAST, an institution pivotal to the country's scientific advancement.
