PM believes Move Forward will respect the Constitutional Court’s decision

Don Mueang, The Prime Minister believes that Move Forward will respect the Constitutional Court's decision and will not incite chaos after the party was dissolved. He said that he has talked to the security sector and sees it as a statement of stance to move forward with politics. He pointed out that Thailand is an independent country after the spokesman of the US State Department issued a statement of opposition. Prime Minister Settha Thavisin gave an interview about the Move Forward Party's movement after the Constitutional Court ruled to dissolve the party, which was like an incitement. He said that he thought that the word incitement should not be used, and that it was not the Move Forward Party's intention to cause chaos or incitement, but rather to show its stance. He understood that it was an announcement to move forward with politics. He asked for encouragement in continuing to work, which is a political matter. He had talked to the security sector, and there was no news that would make us be careful about incitement. If this word were to be used, it would not exist. He was confident that the Move Forward Party respected the court's decision and had a correct path forward in line with the political path that it had to take. Yesterday (7 August), Pol. Gen. Kittirat Phanphet, Deputy Commissioner-General of the Royal Thai Police, reported on the rally behind the Constitutional Court, which was a symbolic demonstration that was peaceful for all parties involved. Reporters asked that the US State Department spokesman recently came out to object to the decision of the Thai Constitutional Court. The Prime Minister said that he thought that we are an independent country. There is no meaning in coming out to object. We have a way to develop politics and our democratic system to follow the correct procedures. Things we disagree with, we amend the law according to the parliamentary method anyway. "I am sure that all Thais understand this. No one will allow other countries to interfere in our sovereignty. Let's not use the word interference. I think they may have suggested that we live in a fragile world, so we have to manage it," the prime minister said. As for the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, is it necessary to explain to them in the context of Thailand? The Prime Minister said that this afternoon the Ministry of Foreign Affairs will hold a press conference, which he has seen and the words are okay, not causing conflict. Let's use this word instead. It is a big country, and there is concern and goodwill. As for us, we have our own way of proceeding. When asked if the private sector expressed concern about politics in August, the Prime Minister said, 'Of course, but that was already finished yesterday. There are still uncertainties. I still have my own concerns. On August 14, as I have already said, I have already sent the case to the court. I do not want to say anything. With respect, I believe that the Constitutional Court is preparing for consideration. On August 14, they will probably know about the matter. As fo r today, I am still working as usual. On August 14, I will still work as usual.' When asked if the approaching August 14th did not cause any hesitation in working, Mr. Settha admitted that he was worried, but did not reduce or postpone his work schedule. He continued to work continuously. As for the private sector not being as concerned about the Move Forward Party case as the Prime Minister's case, because they are concerned about the confidence that will affect the private sector, the Prime Minister said that he did not know about this and did not want to say anything that would lead the working group to be concerned. Each organization and each person has a duty. He asked everyone to do their duty to the fullest during the time that they still have to do it. When asked if looking at the Prime Minister's schedule, it was longer than August 14, the Prime Minister said that it was not anything at all. Work must be planned in advance. It was not a suggestion or expectation. He asked for understanding. When asked what message he would leave to the people to have confidence in the Thai justice process, Mr. Settha said that he thought that everyone already communicated well and knew their duties. He respected the court's decision, which he had been saying all along. As for the vacant deputy speaker position, will the Bhumjaithai Party give it to him? Has he talked to the Pheu Thai Party yet? The Prime Minister said he did not know about this matter. It is a matter for the coalition parties to discuss. Source : Thai News Agency
