Hanoi: Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on May 29 welcomed US LNG company Excelerate Energy (EE)’s efforts to strengthen cooperation with Vietnamese partners, stressing that such engagement holds both political and economic significance, contributing to boosting a balanced and sustainable trade ties between the two countries. Receiving Excelerate Energy President and CEO Steven Kobos in Hanoi, Chinh lauded the signing of a memorandum of understanding (MoU) between the US firm and PV Gas, a unit of state-run Petrovietnam, urging the two sides to work closely together to ensure practical and effective cooperation.
According to Vietnam News Agency, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of this collaboration in developing Vietnam as a significant LNG hub. He highlighted the potential benefits of such a partnership, noting its contribution to enhancing energy security and promoting economic growth. Chinh encouraged both Excelerate Energy and PV Gas to expedite their joint efforts to translate the MoU into actionable projects.
The meeting underscored the growing interest of international companies in Vietnam’s energy sector, especially in the context of the country’s expanding demand for liquefied natural gas. The collaboration between Excelerate Energy and PV Gas is expected to pave the way for further international investments and partnerships, aligning with Vietnam’s strategic energy goals.
