PM Calls on JICA to Support Vietnam’s Industrialisation Through New-Generation ODA

Hanoi: Prime Minister Le Minh Hung has called on the Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) to consider several cooperation orientations on official development assistance (ODA) for Vietnam in the time to come, including support for industrialisation and modernisation, science - technology, innovation, labour productivity improvement, and national competitiveness enhancement. PM Hung hosted JICA President Tanaka Akihiko in Hanoi on June 11.

According to Vietnam News Agency, PM Hung emphasized the importance of JICA's role in supporting Vietnam's development goals. The Prime Minister highlighted the need for new-generation ODA to facilitate Vietnam's aspirations to boost its industrial sector and improve technological advancements.

JICA President Tanaka Akihiko acknowledged the requests from the Vietnamese government and expressed JICA's willingness to explore potential pathways for cooperation. The meeting underscored the ongoing partnership between Vietnam and Japan and the mutual benefits of strengthened economic and technological collaboration.
