Hanoi: Politburo member, Secretary of the Government Party Committee, and Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh presented his decisions appointing two provincial Party secretaries to deputy-ministerial level positions, at a conference on June 30. Accordingly, Tran Duc Thang, Party Central Committee member and Secretary of the Hai Duong provincial Party Committee, was appointed as Standing Deputy Inspector General of Government Inspectorate; while Ho Van Nien, Party Central Committee member and Secretary of the Gia Lai provincial Party Committee, was appointed as Standing Deputy Minister of Ethnic and Religious Affairs.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the appointments come as part of a broader effort to strengthen the leadership within key governmental departments. The decision highlights the government’s ongoing commitment to promoting experienced party members to influential roles in the government structure. Tran Duc Thang and Ho Van Nien, both members of the Party Central Committee, have been recognized for their leadership in their respective provincial committees, reflecting their capabilities to handle national-level responsibilities.

These appointments signify a strategic move by the Prime Minister to incorporate proven provincial leaders into the central government’s framework. The new roles will see Thang and Nien taking on significant responsibilities in their respective departments, contributing to policy implementation and oversight at a national level.
