PM Pledges Green Growth, Urges EU Members to Ratify EVIPA

Hanoi: Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh reaffirmed the Vietnamese Government’s commitment to rapidly resolving obstacles for foreign investors and welcomed European firms to join the country’s high-growth, green transition agenda during a working session with the EU-ASEAN Business Council (EU-ABC) and the European Chamber of Commerce in Vietnam (EuroCham) on November 27.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the Prime Minister emphasized the importance of the EU-Vietnam Investment Protection Agreement (EVIPA) in fostering economic cooperation and urged EU member states to expedite the ratification process. The EVIPA is seen as a crucial framework for ensuring a stable and attractive environment for European investors in Vietnam, particularly in the context of the country’s push towards sustainable and green economic growth.

The Prime Minister highlighted Vietnam’s strategic focus on developing a green economy and expressed optimism about the role European businesses could play in this transition. He assured that the Vietnamese Government is dedicated to addressing any hurdles that foreign investors might face in order to facilitate their participation in Vietnam’s economic development.

The meeting with EU-ABC and EuroCham was part of ongoing efforts to strengthen Vietnam’s economic ties with European countries and encourage more investment in sectors that align with the nation’s green growth objectives. The Prime Minister’s call for ratification of the EVIPA is expected to pave the way for increased collaboration and investment opportunities between Vietnam and the European Union.
