Hanoi: Prime Minister Pham Minh Chinh on February 27 requested state-owned enterprises (SOEs) to contribute more to the rapid, strong, and sustainable development of the economy so as to help Vietnam take off in the coming years. The Government leader addressed a conference between permanent Cabinet members and leaders from SOEs on measures to achieve the double-digit growth target.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the Prime Minister emphasized the crucial role of SOEs in driving the national economy forward. He highlighted the need for these enterprises to innovate, enhance efficiency, and focus on strategic sectors that can catalyze economic growth. The conference aimed to identify specific strategies and solutions that SOEs can adopt to support the government’s ambitious economic vision.

During the meeting, leaders from various SOEs presented their plans and commitments to align with the government’s growth objectives. They discussed potential challenges and opportunities in the current economic landscape, seeking guidance from the government on issues such as policy support and regulatory reforms.

Prime Minister Chinh encouraged SOEs to foster collaboration with private sector firms and international partners to leverage expertise and resources. He also stressed the importance of transparency and accountability, urging SOEs to adhere to best practices in corporate governance to ensure their contributions are sustainable and impactful.

The conference concluded with a consensus on the need for a coordinated effort between the government and SOEs to achieve the set economic targets, with further meetings planned to monitor progress and address ongoing challenges.
