Hanoi: The Ho Chi Minh City Museum of History, in collaboration with the Viet Stamp Club, opened a stamp exhibition on August 27 themed ’80 years of Vietnam reaching out to the world’ to celebrate the 80th anniversary of the August Revolution (August 19, 1945 -2025) and National Day (September 2, 1945-2025). The exhibition, which runs until September 27, aims to highlight and honour the documentary and artistic value of postage stamps as a medium for preserving history and reflecting Vietnam’s culture, politics, and major events, particularly the August Revolution of 1945, the National Day, and the early years of the Democratic Republic of Vietnam.
According to Vietnam News Agency, the exhibition presents a diverse collection of stamps that not only commemorate Vietnam’s significant historical milestones but also showcase the evolution of the nation over the past eight decades. These stamps serve as a testament to Vietnam’s journey and its aspirations on the global stage, capturing the essence of its rich history and cultural heritage.
The event is designed to engage both philatelists and the general public, encouraging them to explore Vietnam’s history through the unique lens of philately. By focusing on the themes of the August Revolution and National Day, the exhibition provides a platform for visitors to gain insight into the pivotal moments that shaped the country’s identity and future.
The organizers hope that the exhibition will inspire a deeper appreciation for the role of postage stamps in documenting Vietnam’s historical narrative, while also fostering a sense of national pride among attendees. As the exhibition continues, it is expected to attract a wide audience, contributing to the cultural and educational landscape of Ho Chi Minh City.
