Thanh Hoa Ramps Up Investment to Modernise Fishing Ports

Thanh hoa: Thanh Hoa, a north-central province with a bustling fishing fleet and a network of ports and anchorages that welcome thousands of vessels from near and far, is ramping up efforts to modernise its fisheries industry. The move includes upgrading port infrastructure, digitalising vessel management and tightening seafood traceability in line with recommendations from the European Commission.

According to Vietnam News Agency, these initiatives are part of a broader strategy to enhance the efficiency and sustainability of the local fisheries sector. By focusing on infrastructure improvements and technological advancements, Thanh Hoa aims to boost its economic output while ensuring compliance with international standards.

The province's decision to invest in digitalising vessel management is expected to streamline operations, making it easier for authorities to monitor fishing activities and enforce regulations. This shift towards a more technologically integrated approach is seen as essential in meeting the European Commission's guidelines, which place a strong emphasis on sustainable fishing practices and traceability.

In addition to these measures, Thanh Hoa is also prioritising the tightening of seafood traceability systems. This step is crucial to maintaining the integrity of the supply chain and ensuring that seafood products meet the stringent quality and safety standards required for export, particularly to European markets.

With these efforts, Thanh Hoa is poised to not only enhance its domestic fisheries industry but also strengthen its position in international markets, contributing to the overall economic growth of the region.
