Royal Decree on the by-election for MP of Constituency 1, Phitsanulok has come into effect. The EC will meet this Monday and expect to set 15 Sept as the election date. Applications will be accepted from 21-25 Aug. The Royal Gazette website has published the announcement of the Royal Decree for the election of the Member of Parliament for Phitsanulok Province, Constituency 1, to fill the vacant position, which will be effective immediately. After this, the Election Commission will hold a meeting to determine the election date and the date for applying for the election. It was reported that the EC chairman scheduled a meeting on Monday, August 19, to set the election date. It is expected that the EC meeting will resolve to set September 15 as the election date and open applications from August 21-25, 2024. For the by-election in Constituency 1, Phitsanulok, it is an election to replace Mr. Padipat Santipada, former MP for Phitsanulok Constituency 1, Thamma Party and former First Deputy Speaker of the House of Representatives, who used to be an executive of the Move Forward Party, which the Constitutional Court ruled on August 7, 2024 to dissolve the party due to overthrowing the democratic regime with the King as head of state and acting in opposition to the democratic regime with the King as head of state, according to Section 92 (1) and (2) of the Political Party Act, and having his right to run for election revoked, causing Mr. Padipat Santipada's membership as a member of the House of Representatives to end according to the Constitution of the Kingdom of Thailand, Section 101 (6) in conjunction with Section 98 (5).
