Trade Through Lao Cai Border Gate Reaches 1.6 Million USD on 2025’s First Day

LAO CAI: Trade activity at the Kim Thanh International Road Border Gate No. 2 in Vietnam’s northern mountainous province of Lao Cai has commenced the year with promising figures, recording a total trade value of over 1.6 million USD by 2 p.m. on January 1, 2025. Export activities contributed nearly 929,000 USD to this total, marking a strong start to the year.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the previous year saw significant trade activity through the Lao Cai border gates, with a total import-export turnover nearing 2.5 billion USD. The robust trade operations also translated into substantial fiscal contributions, as state budget collection from these activities amounted to 840.6 billion VND, equivalent to approximately 32.98 million USD.

The Kim Thanh International Road Border Gate No. 2 serves as a crucial conduit for trade, facilitating the movement of goods between Vietnam and its neighboring regions. The continued growth in trade volume underscores the importance of this border gate in the region’s economic landscape. As trade continues to be a key driver of economic activity, the figures reported on the first day of 2025 suggest a potential increase in trade turnover for the coming year.
