UN Official Praises Vietnam’s Preparations for 11th NPT Review Conference

Hanoi: United Nations Under-Secretary-General Izumi Nakamitsu on April 28 praised Vietnam's thorough preparations and constructive approach in its role as Chair of the 11th Review Conference of the Treaty on the Non-Proliferation of Nuclear Weapons (NPT). At a reception before the conference, Nakamitsu stressed the need to uphold and reaffirm commitment to the treaty. She called on countries to take concrete actions to bridge differences, build consensus, and deliver substantive outcomes.

According to Vietnam News Agency, Nakamitsu highlighted Vietnam's efforts in facilitating dialogue among participating countries. She emphasized the importance of collaboration and mutual understanding to address global nuclear challenges. Her remarks underscored the vital role that the NPT plays in maintaining international peace and security.
