Government House, The Prime Minister integrated cooperation with the United States to suppress and solve drug problems along the border, creating security for Thai people, while the US Ambassador praised the Prime Minister for solving drug problems in the region. H.E. Robert F. Godec, U.S. Ambassador to Thailand, together with Ms. Roshni Nirody, Director of the Bureau for International Narcotics and Law Enforcement Affairs (INL), and Mr. Mark Snyder, Special Assistant to the Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA), paid a courtesy call on H.E. Mr. Settha Thavisin, Prime Minister, to discuss cooperation in combating drugs. The Prime Minister has given importance to the acceleration of drug suppression in accordance with the government's policy to see tangible results within 90 days. Yesterday (July 30) was considered the 60th day of the operation for the Thai government. The Prime Minister has given a policy for the Office of the Narcotics Control Board to accelerate the operation of prevention and suppressio n, along with integrating cooperation with many sectors. He also intends to seek additional cooperation in preventing drug problems along the border with the United States. The U.S. Ambassador commended the Prime Minister for Thailand's leading role in solving the drug problem in the region and welcomed the exchange of U.S. experiences and strengthened cooperation in solving the drug problem with the government, including budget support, detection and prevention tools, and training of Thai personnel. Both sides welcomed the continued and close cooperation between Thailand and the United States between the Office of the Narcotics Control Board (ONCB) and the US Drug Enforcement Administration (DEA). It is hoped that both countries will continue to cooperate closely to prevent and suppress drugs. The US Ambassador also confirmed his support for cooperation with Thailand, and may consider seeking cooperation with various agencies, including neighboring countries, to jointly solve the drug problem along the bo rder effectively.
