Vietnam: Vietnam and Australia have agreed to deepen their Comprehensive Strategic Partnership to ensure the successful hosting of the APEC Year and APEC Economic Leaders' Week in 2027 by Vietnam, during Deputy Minister of Foreign Affairs Nguyen Minh Hang's working visit to Australia from June 22-23. During her trip, Hang had working sessions with Australian Assistant Minister for Foreign Affairs and Trade Matt Thistlethwaite; Deputy Secretary for Trade and Investment Group at the Department of Foreign Affairs and Trade George Mina; APEC Senior Officials' Meeting Chair Jeremy Green, First Assistant Secretary Paul Griffiths; and Executive Chair of the Australian APEC Study Centre at RMIT University Craig Emerson.
According to Vietnam News Agency, the meetings focused on strengthening bilateral cooperation to support Vietnam's preparations for hosting the significant international event. Both nations emphasized the importance of collaboration in various sectors, including economic, trade, and investment exchanges, to contribute to the event's success. The discussions also covered enhancing people-to-people links and educational partnerships to support their strategic objectives.
Nguyen Minh Hang's visit underscored the commitment of both countries to work closely in the lead-up to APEC 2027. The agreement is expected to pave the way for increased cooperation in addressing regional and global challenges, further solidifying the relationship between Vietnam and Australia.
