Hanoi: General Nguyen Trong Nghia, a prominent member of the Communist Party of Vietnam and Chairman of the General Department of Politics of the Vietnam People's Army, recently met with Lao Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of National Defence, General Khamliang Outhakaysone, during an official visit to Laos. The meeting took place as part of efforts to bolster the comprehensive defence ties between the two countries.

According to Vietnam News Agency, earlier in his visit, General Nghia engaged in discussions with Sen. Lt. Gen. Vongsone Inpanphim, who serves as the Secretary of the LPRP Central Committee and Deputy Minister of National Defence. The two officials emphasized the importance of reinforcing the partnership between Vietnam and Laos, particularly in the field of defence. The discussions also highlighted the historical ties and mutual support between the two nations' military establishments.
