Hanoi:General Secretary of the Communist Party of Vietnam Central Committee and President To Lam has emphasized the need for urgent and fundamental improvements in law enforcement.

According to Vietnam News Agency, Lam highlighted the necessity for legislation and its enforcement to form a unified whole that serves development, protects legitimate rights and interests, and strengthens public trust.

During a September meeting of the Standing Board of the central steering committee on institution improvement and law enforcement, attended by Politburo members Prime Minister Le Minh Hung and Standing Member of the Party Central Committee's Secretariat Tran Cam Tu, Lam stressed that the effectiveness of lawmaking and enforcement should be gauged by eliminating bottlenecks, reducing compliance costs, better mobilizing resources, enforcing stronger discipline, and effectively protecting the legitimate rights and interests of both people and businesses.
