Vietnam, Cambodia Extend Road Transport Agreement to Boost Trade at Tan Nam-Meun Chey Border

Hanoi: Vietnam and Cambodia have reached an agreement to extend the implementation of their bilateral Road Transport Agreement, including related protocols, to the Tan Nam (Tay Ninh, Vietnam) - Meun Chey (Prey Veng, Cambodia) border gate pair. This strategic move is anticipated to significantly enhance cross-border transport and trade between the two neighboring nations.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the decision was made during a bilateral meeting held on July 14. Permanent Vice Chairman of the Tay Ninh People's Committee, Nguyen Hong Thanh, emphasized that extending the agreement to this international border gate pair is crucial. It is expected to reduce logistics costs, boost competitiveness, expand market access, attract investment, and foster socio-economic development in both Vietnam and Cambodia.

The extension of the road transport pact is seen as a vital step towards strengthening economic ties and improving connectivity in the region. By facilitating smoother transportation of goods and services, the agreement aims to benefit businesses and communities on both sides of the border.
