Vietnam Coast Guard Must Be an Elite, Streamlined and Strong Force: Party Chief

Hanoi: Party General Secretary and Secretary of the Central Military Commission To Lam has requested the mobilisation of all possible resources to build the Vietnam Coast Guard (VCG) into an elite, streamlined, and strong force advancing directly toward modernisation, while working with the Ministry of National Defence’s Coast Guard Region 4 Command in southern An Giang province on November 20.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the emphasis on modernising the VCG is part of a broader strategy to enhance the capabilities of the force. The focus is on ensuring that the VCG can effectively respond to various challenges and maintain sovereignty and security in Vietnam’s waters. The meeting highlighted the necessity for the VCG to adapt to evolving maritime security demands and enhance its operational efficiency.

The directive from the Party chief is seen as a crucial step in fortifying the VCG’s role in safeguarding Vietnam’s maritime interests. The commitment to modernisation underscores the importance placed on maritime security in the region, with the VCG playing a central role in this strategic initiative.
