Hanoi: Vietnam Coast Guard vessel CSB 8001 set sail from Ho Chi Minh City on August 21 morning, carrying a crew under the leadership of Col. Nguyen Tran Dong, Deputy Commander of Coast Guard Region 3, marking its first visit to the Indonesian coast guard force in 2025. The mission is designed to strengthen ties between the two nations’ maritime forces.
According to Vietnam News Agency, the delegation plans to engage in courtesy calls with Indonesian authorities and coast guard leaders, participate in bilateral meetings, and take part in sports exchanges with Indonesian officers and sailors. Additionally, the itinerary includes visits to cultural landmarks in Jakarta, further fostering goodwill and mutual understanding.
A key component of the visit is a joint maritime exercise, aimed at enhancing the operational capabilities of both nations in handling maritime situations. This exercise is expected to open new avenues for practical and effective collaboration between the Vietnamese and Indonesian coast guards, promoting regional stability and cooperation.
