Hanoi: Vietnam has established itself as a new giant in the global durian market, with export value reaching 3.3 billion USD in 2024, CNBC has recently reported. In November 2024, Chinese durian imports totaled 1.53 million tonnes valued at 6.83 billion USD, marking a 9.4% increase year-over-year. Vietnam commanded 47% of this lucrative market, closely trailing Thailand’s leading position.
According to Vietnam News Agency, the surge in Vietnam’s durian exports highlights its growing influence in the international fruit trade. The country’s ability to capture nearly half of the Chinese import market underscores its strategic advancements in agricultural production and international trade relationships. As Vietnam continues to expand its durian exports, it positions itself as a critical player in meeting the increasing demand for this sought-after fruit.
