Vietnam, Laos Hasten 500-Day Campaign to Identify Martyrs’ Remains

Vientiane: Vietnamese Ambassador to Laos Nguyen Minh Tam held a working session with Sen. Lieut. Gen Vongsone Inpanphim, Deputy Minister of National Defence and Director of the General Political Department of the Lao People's Army in Vientiane on June 4 to accelerate a 500-day campaign to search for, recover, and identify the remains of Vietnamese volunteer soldiers and experts who fell in Laos. According to Vietnam News Agency, the campaign aims to enhance cooperation between Vietnam and Laos in honoring the sacrifice of Vietnamese soldiers and experts who lost their lives in Laos. The meeting focused on strategies and collaborative efforts to expedite the search and recovery operations, ensuring all efforts are in alignment with the campaign's objectives. During the session, both parties discussed the importance of this mission and reiterated their commitment to fulfilling the campaign within the designated timeframe. The operation is a testament to the enduring friendship and cooperation between the two nations, highlighting the shared history and mutual respect for those who served. The campaign is seen as a critical effort in providing closure to the families of the fallen and in acknowledging the historical ties between Vietnam and Laos.
