Vietnam: Vietnam officially inaugurated its first honorary consulate in Phuket, Thailand, on July 9, marking a new step in strengthening bilateral ties and expanding consular services for Vietnamese citizens in southern Thailand. The honorary consulate has jurisdiction over eight southern coastal provinces, including Phuket, Phang Nga, Krabi, Trang, Satun, Ranong, Songkhla, and Surat Thani. According to Vietnam News Agency, the establishment of this consulate aims to provide better support and services to the Vietnamese community residing in these regions. Additionally, it is expected to foster closer ties between Vietnam and Thailand, promoting cultural and economic exchanges. The new consulate is anticipated to be a significant resource for Vietnamese nationals in southern Thailand, ensuring their needs and concerns are addressed promptly. This move is also seen as part of Vietnam's broader strategy to enhance its diplomatic presence in Southeast Asia.
