Can Tho: The first shipment of 500 tonnes of Vietnam’s low-carbon footprint rice set sail for Japan on June 5. This marks the international debut of the rice produced under an initiative aimed at cultivating one million hectares of low-emission and high-quality rice in the Mekong Delta, known as the one-million-hectare rice project. The Vietnam Rice Industry Association (Vietrisa) and Trung An High-Tech Agriculture JSC celebrated the export of Japonica rice, which bears a new eco-label, at a ceremony in Thot Not district, Can Tho city. The rice is priced at 820 USD per tonne.
According to Vietnam News Agency, this development is seen as a significant step forward in Vietnam’s efforts to promote sustainable agriculture and environmentally friendly practices. The initiative focuses on reducing carbon emissions while maintaining high-quality rice production, catering to the growing demand for sustainable products in international markets.
