Vietnam – Timor Leste Ties Poised for New Growth Opportunities: Diplomat

Hanoi: Prime Minister of Timor Leste Kay Rala Xanana Gusmo's official visit to Vietnam from June 7-10 and his attendance at the third ASEAN Future Forum holds significance for both bilateral ties and Timor Leste's integration into the Association of Southeast Asian Nations (ASEAN) following its formal accession as the 11th member, Vietnamese Charge d'affaires to Timor Leste Pham Binh Dam told the Vietnam News Agency (VNA).

According to Vietnam News Agency, the visit by Prime Minister Gusmo is expected to open new avenues for cooperation between Vietnam and Timor Leste, enhancing economic, political, and cultural exchanges. The Vietnamese diplomat emphasized the importance of this visit in strengthening the partnership, particularly in the context of Timor Leste's recent accession to ASEAN.

The ASEAN Future Forum serves as a platform for member nations to discuss critical regional issues and forge stronger ties. Timor Leste's participation marks a pivotal moment in its integration into regional frameworks, and the engagement with Vietnam is seen as a step forward in solidifying its role within ASEAN.
