Vietnam Tourism Maintains Strong Growth, Expands International Markets

Hanoi: Vietnam's tourism sector is maintaining strong international visitor growth while expanding its reach across both traditional Asian markets and long-haul destinations, with nearly 16 million foreign arrivals recorded in the first eight months of 2026, according to the Vietnam National Authority of Tourism (VNAT). The National Statistics Office under the Ministry of Finance reported that Vietnam welcomed nearly 2 million international visitors in August, up 19.7% from July and 18.4% year-on-year. The figure represented 63.6% of the tourism sector's full-year target of 25 million arrivals.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the consistent rise in international tourist numbers showcases Vietnam's strategic efforts in enhancing its tourism infrastructure and marketing campaigns. The country's tourism authorities have been actively promoting Vietnam as a favorable destination in key Asian markets while also working on attracting visitors from Europe and North America.

The steady growth in tourism has been attributed to various factors, including improved visa policies, enhanced connectivity through direct flights, and a focus on cultural and eco-tourism. Vietnam's rich cultural heritage, natural landscapes, and diverse attractions continue to draw visitors from across the globe, contributing significantly to the nation's economy.

The VNAT is optimistic about reaching its target of 25 million international arrivals by the end of the year, as efforts continue to boost the tourism sector's appeal and infrastructure. This growth aligns with Vietnam's broader economic goals and its ambition to become a leading tourist destination in the region.
