Vietnamese Community Shines at Chingay Parade 2025

Kien Giang: The Vietnamese community in Singapore participated in the Chingay Parade 2025 on February 7-8, which aimed to celebrate the connections between communities, generations, and cultures in the island country. The event returned with the theme ‘Joy’, inviting members of the public to reflect on shared experiences transcending ethnicity, language and age through food. Attending the event, the Vietnamese community showcased culinary delights such as pho (noodle soup with beef or chicken), banh mi (bread), and banh trang (rice paper), which are very popular in Singapore. Organised annually by the People’s Association (PA), this year’s Chingay Parade featured a record number of over 4,000 artists and 23 floats. It is expected to attract approximately 20,000 spectators over the two nights of performances.

According to Vietnam News Agency, the Chingay Parade 2025 highlighted the Vietnamese community’s participation by focusing on their culinary offerings, which have become a significant part of Singapore’s diverse food culture. This year’s theme, ‘Joy’, encouraged attendees to engage with the cultural narratives presented by various ethnic groups, with food acting as a central element of this engagement. The participation of the Vietnamese community not only showcased their cultural heritage but also emphasized the unity and shared experiences among different communities in Singapore.

The People’s Association, responsible for organizing the annual parade, succeeded in drawing a record number of participants, marking this year’s event as one of the most vibrant and inclusive celebrations to date. The Vietnamese food stalls attracted numerous visitors, offering them a taste of Vietnam’s rich culinary traditions and enhancing the cultural tapestry of the parade. The event’s success in uniting diverse cultural expressions demonstrates the enduring significance of the Chingay Parade as a platform for multicultural interaction and appreciation.
