Vietnam’s National Brand Value Surges by 45% to Over $462 Billion

Hanoi:Vietnam's national brand has been valued at over $462 billion this year, reflecting a significant 45.14% increase from 2020. This positions Vietnam 32nd among 193 countries, as reported by Deputy Minister of Industry and Trade Luong Hoang Thai, citing Brand Finance, a UK-based brand valuation consultancy.

According to Vietnam News Agency, Deputy Minister Thai highlighted the accomplishments of Vietnam's National Brand Programme, emphasizing its role in enhancing the country's brand value and the competitiveness of its businesses over the past two decades. This state-led trade promotion effort links product and corporate branding to national reputation, focusing on quality, innovation, and pioneering capacity.

Brand Finance reported that half of Vietnam's 50 most valuable brands are products recognized under the programme, including five of the top 10, accounting for about 69.1% of the group's total value. These premium and competitive brands have reshaped global perceptions of Vietnam as an innovative and reliable economic partner, while also boosting confidence among consumers, partners, and foreign investors.

Recognized companies have significantly driven production, exports, and economic competitiveness, growing from 30 firms with 50 products in 2008 to 227 companies with 499 products in 2026. In 2025, these companies generated over $96.1 billion in revenue, with exports surpassing 262 trillion VND. They contributed over 133 trillion VND to the State budget, employed more than 760,000 workers, and invested nearly 5 trillion VND in social welfare.

Research and development spending by these companies increased by more than 6% from 2024, reaching almost 43.6 trillion VND. They registered nearly 5,700 trademarks, patents, and utility solutions, and obtained over 2,400 international certificates and standards. Their emphasis on technology and compliance with international standards has improved productivity and market reach.

Thai announced plans to develop a national brand strategy through 2035, with a vision extending to 2045. The strategy will integrate product, corporate, and sectoral brands with the national brand, leveraging key economic sectors and cultural values to enhance Vietnam's global standing. The programme aims to support digital transformation, green transition, and international standards compliance, helping firms build credibility and compete sustainably.

Additionally, Vietnamese brands will receive support to expand globally through promotion, brand protection, and stronger ties with diplomacy, culture, tourism, and external communications. The overarching goal is to transition from "Made in Vietnam" to "Make in Vietnam," strengthening the country's position in global value chains and international markets.
